From one of the most underplayed films ever
Okay, so its hardly a surprise that I love Strictly Come Dancing! (The UK version of Dancing With The Stars).
My fluffy sparkly weekend escapism where nothing bad happens.. although nothing ever incredibly inspiring happens either. I mean, it’s safe viewing, comforting .. ‘nice’ even?

(Okay, so there was that little incident a few weeks back, but Sean got off with Katya but then he turned out to be a bit of dick and then they said they were sorry… the end!)
INTERESTINGLY THE VERY FILM WHICH INSPIRED THE SHOWS TITLE ‘STRICTLY BALLROOM’ IS ANYTHING BUT BEIGE!
The ugly duckling/not quite a swan sister of Dirty Dancing (fair to say?) became my secret favourite VHS viewing!
This ridiculously insular glitterati dance world, who couldn’t see past their own oversized sequinned egos.. and the underdog wall flower’s simple message to leading man was ‘I’d rather be the uncool kid that no one ever notices, than live my life in fear on the opinions of others … you gutless wonder!' #savage
I think at that point everyone stood up and took notice of the courageous Fran. Of course as per the movie ‘you can dance any steps you like in life … doesn’t mean you’ll win!’
BUT HEY, BETTER TO DANCE IN THE RAIN THAN WORRY IF YOU HAVE AN UMBRELLA FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!
Oh & heres a clip of the ‘unconceivable sight of Scott dancing with Fran’ (sounds better in Australian)
